Most solvent distillation needs only 10–20mbar, and a chemical-resistant diaphragm pump is the standard choice. For high-boiling solvents, choose a model with lower ultimate vacuum or add a vacuum controller.
Can I replace an oil pump with a diaphragm pump?
Yes, if your required vacuum falls within the diaphragm pump range — maintenance drops sharply. Work needing high vacuum below 10⁻³mbar still requires an oil or turbo pump.
